What You Need to Know About 2021 PMP Exam Preparation

Q: Do I need to be an ATP to offer PMP exam preparation courses?

A: No, the ATP program is completely optional and has several restrictions that may make it difficult for you to join such as mandatory instructor training, and fees in excess of $7500. By choosing to remain independent and using CertWise course materials, your instructors can deliver the training their way, while your students get access to comprehensive reading materials and online study tools.

Q: Why is it more cost-effective to continue as a CertWise partner?

A: Our commitment to you and all our partners remains the same. There are no annual fees, no revenue sharing, and no costly training requirements for your instructors. You only pay for the materials you need for the enrollments you generate.

Q: Are PMP candidates free to choose non-ATP exam preparation courses? Can they claim formal project management education contact hours from non-ATP providers?

A: Candidates may choose to prepare however they like. Forcing candidates to use an ATP would be a violation of the global certification accreditation standards to which PMI strives to adhere. PMI has made it clear that contact hours can be counted for any number of non-ATP training activities.

Q: Is CertWise aligned to the new exam that will be tested starting on 02 January 2021?

A: Yes, absolutely. Our program has been fully updated and is ready for your classes anytime. Based on the format and dates of your remaining 2020 classes, our account manager can help you decide which version of our program to use.

Q: Do I need to be an ATP to offer the 35 Contact Hours required by PMI to apply for the PMP Exam?

A: No, contact hours can be counted for any number of non-ATP training activities.

Q: Will the Holmes Corporation be applying to join the ATP program?

A: No, HC will not join the program although we are currently considering adding complementary products for those ATPs who find PMI’s program insufficient to prepare a candidate.

Q: What are some of the differences between the ATP instructor requirements and the CertWise instructor requirements?

A: The ATP program requires all your PMP exam prep instructors to participate in their Train the Trainer program at a cost of about $1,000 per person. ATP program instructors must also have Agile project experience to teach a PMP exam prep course. While CertWise requires that your instructors be PMP certified and Agile experience is encouraged, they receive everything they need to teach the course without having to undergo any form of mandatory instructor training or incurring recurring costs. Once you buy the CertWise instructor materials you can leverage those materials, and assign them to your current instructor, for as long as the materials remain valid for the exam. And, when we update instructor materials, our new-version reissue fees for partners is only US$150.

Q: Can the required ATP materials be augmented with other materials of the course provider’s choosing?

A: Yes, absolutely.
